Moose Trackin' on Skis

Moose Poop Alley is one of my favorite places around here for backcountry skiing in the winter and running in the early spring and fall. (It's pretty buggy and grassy other times of year.)

I'll bet you can guess why we gave it that name.

There are signs of moose everywhere. Tracks. Poop. Places where they bedded down.

Hair stuck in the snow.

And lots of places where they have been browsing on saplings, nibbling the tender ends off and often breaking branches in the process.

 We didn't find any sheds this time around. We'll be back again to look!

And this past weekend I added a couple trails to this year's tally: Sugarloaf Outdoor Center (below) and the Maine Huts and Trails system.
